Chimayo 03:29
CHIMAYO (Pamela Polland) lyrics adapted from "A Poem From A Blind Man" by George Mendoza. I am blind, I've traveled many miles To a place called Chimayo, It's a place I love, in its silence and its peace, To this heaven I must go. Where the sun falls asleep without regret, It's that old country feeling I can't forget. Settled by a people with a friendly hand, Where they still tell stories about miracles in the land, Santuario. If you are a stranger, weary from the struggles of life, Follow that long mountain road, You may have a handicap, you may have a broken heart, You'll find a home in Chimayo. Where the sun falls asleep without regret, It's that old country feeling I can't forget. Graceful as a flower in the summer breeze, Nestled in a valley with wild berry trees, Santuario. I am blind, I've traveled many miles To this Santuario, Chimayo. Chimayo.

THE WELCOMING (Kenny Loggins) May the Spirit enter into this room May our hearts be filled with her light May she ever surround and protect us And may always her beauty be here by our side Our love has grown - into a home And suddenly everything I've learned has a place it can start Cuz finally love has come and taken a place in our hearts This is our Welcoming /Open up and let it in Feel it happening / Spirit's beckoning Welcome to our Welcoming May your eyes be filled with wonder and joy May your arms be filled with delight May your heart be as easily opened As the moment of grace in the birth of a child Love's gentle touch (Has)shown me so much And suddenly everything I've learned has a place it can start Cuz finally love has come and taken a place in our hearts CHORUS (2x) (Angel voices) Come everybody let us lift our hearts and celebrate together And every one of us can lift our voices, sing and dance together

Sanctuary 05:27
SANCTUARY (Pamela Polland) 3/90 for Bill When I'm growin' weary And the load is getting too hard to carry You come to me..........and ooooo...... You're my Sanctuary (2x) When my heart is heavy With all the troubles this world seems to carry You come to me.........and ooooo........ You're my sanctuary (3x) In the night when stars are bright You're there to wrap me up in the warm love of your arms. In the day even when you're far away Your love's there to lean on......to keep me from harm! And ooooo.......... You're my sanctuary.......... You're my sanctuary......... You're my sanctuary.........

THE QUICKENING (Pamela Polland / Gay Hendricks) Deep inside me there's a river And this river's now in flood When I'm near you there's a surging A surging in my blood Deep inside me there's a stream A stream of dancing light When I see you my heart quickens Like wild swans taking flight When I think you seem to hear it When you hurt I cannot bear it Do I dare to hope you share it? This quickening of my love. (2x) By the seashore I went walking And found a lonely shell In its center there's a roaring Eternity cannot quell My hear t had turned to winter A cold and graceless land That sprang to joy and laughter When I first touched your hand When I think you seem to hear it When you hurt I cannot bear it Do I dare to hope you share it? This quickening of my love (2x)

I LOVE YOUR WAYS (Gary Malkin / Dan Mountain) Oh, I love your ways Oh, I want to spend my days In your warm embrace I feel your grace fill my time Oh, I've seen you laugh and cry Oh, I've seen you light the sky I've learned to love your gentle ways And know your courage You laugh at fate You walk your own way Without a word, I always knew I feel your dreams, I know your mercy For all your days I love your ways SOLO Oh, I've seen you laugh and cry Oh, I've seen you light the sky I've learned to love your gentle ways And know your courage Oh, I love your ways.

A PLACE TO BE (Pamela Polland / Gay Hendricks) Somewhere love waits for me In a place that's clear and free I can go there, I can grow there, A place to be. Somewhere love waits for me A calm strong energy I can breathe there, I'll be free there, A place to be. I've walked a thousand miles alone Gave up and then made myself go on Has someone out there heard my cries? I can not, will not compromise. I want someone to hold me tight Who holds me while I dance in light, I know that somewhere, out there, in here, There's a place to be. Somewhere love waits for me In a place that's clear and free I can go there, I can grow there, I can breathe there, I'll be free there, A place to be

Strip Away 04:16
STRIP AWAY (Pamela Polland) I think I know what I'm doing I think I know what I'm doing I think I know what I'm doing with you......... In matters of Love, I like to play fastball, Not that it's always been good for me; I've gone for the fast climb, suffered the fast fall, How I remain standing is complete mystery. And when we strip away these vines around our hearts We'll find a pool of love - deep inside - Come on, let's strip away - let's find a cleaner start - Strip away ! I know what I want, you fit the description, Now it's a question of wait or pursue: I know what I need, you fill the prescription, Now I'm left with the rush of attraction to you. (CHORUS) I think I know what I'm doing I think I know what I'm doing (Total 6x) I think I know what I'm doing with you.......... I don't want to stretch, I don't want to slow down, I'm pulled by desire and I don't want to wait: If Love is like quicksand, together we'll go down, Holding on to each other we'll make our escape. (CHORUS 2x) I think I know what I'm doing I think I know what I'm doing I think I know......................................

Intimacy 05:00
INTIMACY (Pamela Polland) Now that I know myself - I want to know you That loving partnership that we can grow into I'm ready to care for you and have you care for me OOO.......Intimacy. Now that I trust myself - I want to trust in you Unfold those old ideas and make them just like new With will and willingness to share. we'll face life's mystery OOO......Intimacy. Locked in our private world We're free to move boundlessly Free to express ourselves - free to receive: I vow to hold nothing back, I ask that you hold nothing back from me. Now that I love myself - I'm able to love you To understand your needs and want to rise up to We'll play a sweet duet in each other's symphony OOO.........Intimacy. (REPEAT BRIDGE) Intimacy...........Intimacy.........Intimacy.

Letting Go 06:28
LETTING GO (Pamela Polland) For all the ways in which I hardened - Now I'm letting go, For all the ways in which I held back - Now I'm letting go, For all the ways in which I tightened - Now I'm letting go, Right now.......finally........Now I'm letting go. For all the times in which I held on - Now I'm letting go, For all the times I tried to stay on track - Now I'm letting go, For all the times I never lightened - Now I'm letting go, Right now.........finally.......Now I'm letting go. Never able to feel perfect and pure, Imprisoned by what I thought was right, Never able to join with God, Always standing just outside the Light, Now I'm going all the way home. Right now............finally..........Now I'm letting go.

about

Heart Of The World is the long awaited album of original material from award winning singer-songwriter Pamela Polland. With its release, Pamela brings a vitality, a focus, and a fresh energy to both the Pop and the New Age musical marketplace.

Pamela's intention in recording this music was 'to crack open hearts...to guide listeners toward a deeper sense of themselves and to accompany the listener on his or her healing journey'. The inspiration behind the album is a song entitled "Letting Go", which has been used extensively by professionals in the healing arts in the context of therapy, ritual, and guided meditation.

Deeply spiritual, yet primitive, Pamela's percussion-driven title track, "Heart of the World" combines a hauntingly beautiful melody with a gospel choir, crafting an eloquent and emotional plea for a return to the center of being. Deceptively simple lyrics serve as the perfect counterpoint to producer Gary Remal Malkin's richly textured orchestrations.

Distinguished by separate collaborations from special guest artists Bonnie Raitt and Kenny Loggins, this diverse musical anthology is epitomized by heartfelt lyrics, evocative melodies and graceful harmonies. Defying any genre-specific definition, Pamela Polland has created a genuinely inspirational body of work thoughtfully designed to open the heart.

I'd also like to mention a few select musicians who I believe bring true excellence to this project: Marc Russo on saxophone, Will Kennedy on drums - both from the great band The Yellowjackets. Marc also toured with the Kenny Loggins Band for 10 years. Quique Cruz on pan pipes can also be heard on albums by Jackson Browne and Kenny Loggins. Mike Marshall, on acoustic guitar, produces and records for Windham Hill, and Paul McCandless of Oregon and the Paul Winter Consort plays an exquisite oboe solo. There are at least a dozen more players, all brilliant.
