about

From 1970-1976, Pamela toured rather extensively, and always loved to see the sights in every town she worked in. While visiting a park in Vancouver, Canada, she had this experience, completely in her imagination, and was inspired to write this song.

lyrics

In My Imagination
(Pamela Polland)

I was riding on the children's train that takes us through the zoo
And I saw somebody in the distance, and I thought that it was you
So I came runnin' up to greet you and to be recognized too
But then you slipped away from view, just like you always do.

But in my imagination you were real and how you found me
You came runnin' across that boundary, and then you threw your lovin' arms around me
And I slipped into this dizzy spell like a spinnin' ferris wheel
But in my imagination you were there and it was so real.

And I try to know what's goin' on and tell myself no lies
And then I'd think that you were behind me, and you'd take me by surprise
But I've played this game some times before, and now I'm getting wise
It's a daydream in disguise - that's all it is!

Oh, but in my imagination you were real and how you found me
You came runnin' across that boundary, and then you threw your lovin' arms around me
And I slipped into this dizzy spell like a spinnin' ferris wheel
But in my imagination, yes and in my imagination,
Can you imagine what was in my imagination?
